September 14 is shaping up to be a bargain hunter’s dream. On that date, the Chamber will host its second Community Yard Sale/Business Expo at Bulldog Field from 8 am to 1 pm. (April’s sale drew 1,000 customers in five hours.) One side of the field will be reserved for yard sale tables; the other will be for business owners/retailers. The event will add a link to the well-known 340 yard sale, so we expect shoppers to be out in droves. To participate, call 540-743-3915 for information on fees, setup times and other directions. The same day, there will be a sidewalk sale in downtown Luray. Call 540-743-7700 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org. In Shenandoah, the Volunteer Fire Company is selling yard sale space at their carnival grounds on Third Street. $10 gets a 10x20-foot space; you provide your own tables. Call Jaime Woodward (540-742-19940; Anita Taylor (540-560-40160 or Becky Sherfey (540-383-9031) to reserve space. They will also hold a bake sale and have food available. Finally, Rt. 340 Flea Market and Antiques has outdoor space available for rent; call 540-652-7768.
